FAQ

Does it work with any application?
Xray uses the macOS Accessibility API, so it works with virtually any application — browsers, native apps, Finder, System Settings, and more.
What permissions does Xray need?
Xray requires Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. On first launch, macOS will prompt you to grant them in System Settings > Privacy & Security. Nothing leaves your machine.
Is Xray really free?
Yes, 100% free and open source under the MIT license. No accounts, no subscriptions, no tracking.
Where does the captured image go?
It goes straight to your clipboard. Just press Cmd+V to paste it into any app — Slack, Figma, Notion, or anywhere else.
Does it support Intel Macs?
Currently Xray is built for Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4). Intel Mac support via universal binary is planned for a future release.
